It all began as a hobby for Alberto Tassi, rooted in his childhood love for aquariums and fish. Moving to Portugal made it hard to keep up with this passion, but when he and his wife bought a house with a small backyard, Alberto saw an opportunity. He built a small pond for fish—a modest yet beautiful project that, over time, kept growing.
Back then, Alberto was working for a large automotive company. When a colleague asked him to help renovate his apartment, knowing his background in construction, Alberto agreed. The project’s success prompted the colleague to suggest that he start a renovation business. Alberto thanked him but admitted his true dream was to create a business focused on ponds and landscaping. Encouraged by his friend’s words, “You already have the most important thing—passion. The rest will fall into place,” Alberto decided to take the leap.
And so, Oásis Biosistema was born. The name was inspired by the backyard that had become his personal oasis in the city. Alberto began studying ecosystems, pond filtration, and landscaping techniques, wanting to create serene oases for others. Today, Oásis Biosistema offers a full range of services, from ponds and natural pools to decks, vertical gardens, and more. “I do what I love for people who love what I do.”

At Oásis Biosistema, our ponds are a unique blend—not quite a traditional pond and not exactly a natural pool, but something in between.
Unlike a standard pond, which often lacks filtration and appears dark except for the fish and plants, or a traditional natural pool, which relies primarily on plants for filtration, our system incorporates a specialized sump filtration process.
While natural pools in countries like Spain, Portugal, and Germany are 80% plants and 20% swim space, we use a different method, integrating both plants and fish for biological balance but supplementing with advanced mechanical filtration to achieve clarity.
Our custom sump filtration system relies on gravity to pull water into a series of chambers filled with Japanese mats, brushes, and media to filter out impurities. After passing through these chambers, the water reaches a submerged pump, which returns the cleaned water to various points in the pond. This design ensures effective water circulation, a key to maintaining the pristine quality we aim for.
To further enhance water quality, we incorporate UV light and ozone treatments.
UV light disrupts algae at the cellular level, preventing it from clouding the water, while ozone treatment breaks down organic waste and improves the filtration process. Together, these systems reduce the need for chemical treatments and help manage algae, ensuring the pond remains clear, vibrant, and low-maintenance for our clients.
